How loud may a finca wedding be?

The short answer: there is no rule that covers the whole island. Noise control in Mallorca is a matter for each municipality — and for your venue's licence. In practice that usually means: outdoors, the music ends or drops sharply somewhere between 10 pm and midnight. Indoors, the party continues. Know it in advance and you lose not a minute of the night — find out on your wedding day and you will.

Why there is no simple answer

Every municipality sets its own quiet hours. As a rough guide, night rest in Mallorca starts around 10 pm; how strictly that is enforced outdoors depends on the town, the neighbourhood and above all your finca's licence. Some venues are licensed for open-air music until midnight, others have to move inside earlier, others use limiters that cap the system automatically. So the only honest answer to "how loud may we go?" is: ask your venue — or let me do it.

What this means for your party

The key point: the curfew does not end the party. It relocates it. Almost every finca has an indoor space — a vaulted hall, a salon, a terrace that closes. What matters is that the move indoors is planned, not a surprise at 11:45 pm with a full floor.

So I build the change into the running order: outdoors the night climbs towards a peak, then everyone moves together — with an announcement, with the right song, as a moment rather than a break. Indoors it continues seamlessly, often better than outside: walls carry bass, and a full floor in a vaulted room feels bigger than the same crowd under the open sky.

Then there is the engineering: several smaller speakers close to the dancefloor instead of one big rig radiating across the whole property. Aimed away from the neighbours, bass under control. Loud on the floor, quiet behind it — that is the difference between playing music and playing a venue.

Not a faster changeover — no changeover at all

This is where the move indoors takes minutes or an hour. My build is twin-track from the start: outdoors, for the aperitif and the open-air part of the party, a compact second rig plays. The main system — main PA, booth, lighting — is already fully built indoors, waiting for its first song.

The changeover is not a rebuild but a move of the guests: an announcement, the right track, everyone walks in together — and inside, the music continues with barely a pause. Plan with a single rig instead, and you are tearing down and rebuilding exactly when the night peaks. No DJ in the world wins those 45 or 60 minutes back.

Two complete rigs require enough equipment on site. That is exactly what my storage on the island is for — I bring both builds, no rentals, no surcharge logic. And that is why the curfew belongs in the planning from day one: with your planner, or with a DJ who knows the island. Learn about it on the wedding day and the most important transition of the night is not planned — it is improvised.

How I handle it

Because I live on the island, I stand in your venue before your wedding. I settle three things in writing with the house: until when may music play outdoors? Is there a decibel condition or a built-in limiter? And where does the night continue afterwards? The answers go straight into your running order — including the moment of the move. None of it is your problem.
